The causes of violence in school

 1. Many participants mentioned corporal and moral punishment, such as insults inflicted by Teachers, as a means of enforcing order in the classroom.

2. Girls felt that they were more exposed to violence than boys, particularly moral and Verbal violence

3. Underprivileged socio-economic conditions of families do have an impact on possible violent acts and aggressive behavior.

4. When children live in a violent surrounding such as wars, this can only have a negative Impact on schools.

5. The students showed skepticism concerning the school administration’s efficiency in Responding to school violence, as the administration always tends to be on the part of the school personnel.

6. Even when laws/rules exist against violence within schools, these are not properly enforced.

7. There is a tendency on the part of the school to downplay violent acts and school Violence as an issue, even when children would be willing to talk about it

8. There is a difference between public and private schools: where a tuition fee is paid by Parents, school administrations are be much more cautious of violent acts against.

•  Family

Family is the first place of a child going through socialization. When a child born, he or she will be very dependent to his or her family. Children need attention from their parents and even from the family in general, they need protection as well. Those who are hunger and deprived from attention may create problem later in their life. Children need their own space for growing. There are parents who are trying to insist their own ambition to their children so will result in frustration. Those parents are too hard in providing space of growing for the children which sequentially cause lacking in achievement motivation of their children at school. The deprived anger sometimes expressed in bad manners at school, like for example: fighting, bothering other people and any other bad behavior at school.

•  Teacher

Violence at school done by teachers can be in the form of physical as well as psycho ogical violence. Teacher may menampar, menendang or even melecehkan. Psychologically can be in the forms or telling that the students are stupid, dump, and even threatening the student on something. This can be due to the lacking of ability of the teachers in regulating their emotion outburst, or due to their personality or due to the personal problem of the teachers themselves, so that even a very little mistake done by the student has trigged a big deal violence from the teacher which may cause victim in the side of students.

•  Mass media

Mass media is a media of communication somehow. Mass media can be very influencing the personal development of the students. Mass media, regardless, whether those are in the forms of newspaper, magazine, electronic (radio, TV and internet) may lead student into a certain behavior. Pornography and violence, especially, will certainly drag the young people into the misconduct behavior such as, violence among themselves, even doing harm to the younger groups. And therefore, students have to be very selective in taking mass media into their life, so that the bad impact will not be adapted in their life style.

•  Peer Group

Peer may bring positive as well as negative impact to the personal development. Being too exclusive may lead to daily bad behavior, for example: looking down to other groups of their own peer, even up to physical attack and fighting. Sense of belonging within the peer group need to be guided as so that misconduct will not be proceeded.

•  Experience

Experiences contributes a great deal part of personal development. Those who are exposed to the experiences of violence, both at the school or at home, may cause a chronic fear and inferiority so that they will not be able to develop creativity and personal growth as entity of individual. Some may not be able to learn from past experiences, instead take those bad experiences and devote in the forms of revenge. This type need certainly help, otherwise he or she will develop distrust among themselves. Guidance and counseling for these kind students are really required, so that optimal development can be attained.
